Section 10.8.2.15, B of the Final Rules states,"...An applicant or licensee shall demonstrate competency in the safe use of each category and caliber of handgun
for which he or she seeks certification by firing the handgun with live ammunition at a target no larger than 12 inches wide and 18 inches high. An applicant or licensee shall fire 15 rounds from
three yards and 10 rounds from seven yards."
"...An applicant or licensee shall score 4 points for each shot that hits within the scoring line and zero points for each shot that hits outside the scoring
line. An applicant must obtain a score of 72% (7 off/18 on) to pass the competency demonstration."
All firing is two-handed unless otherwise stated
Shooters must reload when empty
Scan for threats after engaging and after
reloading
Finger ON trigger, ready to fire if needed
Come to the low ready position after scanning for threats
Finger OFF trigger, under revolver cylinder or under semi-auto slide
De-cock or engage the safety (depending on your firearm model) after scanning
From the 3 yard line: 15 rounds total
From the holster and on the command to fire:
Draw and fire 15 rounds (reload when needed)
Unload (remove magazine or eject shells from cylinder)
Show a clear and empty firearm to an instructor, stand by for "holster" command
After the "holster" command, holster a safe firearm
For semi-autos, drop the slide, decock or put safety on, holster
For revolvers, close cylinder, holster
7 yard line: 10 rounds total
From the holster and on the command to fire:
Draw and fire 10 rounds (reload when needed)
Unload (remove magazine or eject shells from cylinder)
Show a clear and empty firearm to an instructor, stand by for "holster" command
After the "holster" command, holster a safe firearm
For semi-autos, drop the slide, decock or put safety on, holster
For revolvers, close cylinder, holster
